About the Team Topps.com is a flagship platform within Fanatics Collectibles. We're building the gold standard for collectors through immersive, commerce-integrated experiences across Topps, Fanatics Live, and Fanatics Collect. Our mission is to deliver performant systems, high design polish, and data-driven growth experiences that engage the next generation of fans. The Role We’re hiring an Engineering Manager to join the Growth Engineering team, focused on driving user acquisition, engagement, and retention across Topps, Fanatics Live, and Fanatics Collect. This is a player-coach role, where you will spend approximately 60–80% of your time hands-on coding while also leading a small team of engineers. You will be responsible for delivering impactful growth initiatives, ensuring high-quality analytics instrumentation, and guiding the team’s technical direction and execution. You’ll partner closely with product, data, and marketing stakeholders to prioritize and execute against a growth roadmap, while fostering a strong engineering culture centered on speed, quality, and accountability. This role reports to the Director of Engineering, Topps.

Requirements

  • 6–10+ years of experience building and scaling modern web applications.
  • Proven experience as a technical lead or team lead, with a track record of delivering through others while remaining hands-on.
  • Strong proficiency in full stack development (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Node.js, or similar technologies).
  • Experience implementing and maintaining analytics and tracking systems (event pipelines, attribution, instrumentation).
  • Familiarity with experimentation platforms, A/B testing methodologies, and feature flagging systems.
  • Strong understanding of system design, API development, and performance optimization.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering, product, and data teams.
  • Ability to balance technical leadership with execution, thriving in a fast-paced, iterative environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on growth engineering or product growth teams.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools such as Segment, Amplitude, Snowflake, or similar platforms.
  • Experience building for both web and mobile surfaces.
  • Exposure to consumer-facing products with high scale and rapid experimentation cycles.
  • Passion for mentoring engineers and building high-performing teams.
  • Interest in collectibles, live commerce, or fan engagement platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineers to deliver growth-focused features and experiments across Topps, Fanatics Live, and Fanatics Collect.
  • Contribute directly as a hands-on full stack engineer (60–80%), building and shipping features across frontend and backend systems.
  • Ensure analytics data integrity and consistency across platforms, including instrumentation, validation, and tracking pipelines.
  • Drive the design and implementation of experimentation frameworks (A/B testing, feature flags) to enable rapid iteration.
  • Partner with product, data science, and marketing to define, prioritize, and execute on growth initiatives.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers on the team, supporting their growth and delivery.
  • Establish and uphold engineering best practices for code quality, testing, observability, and performance.
  • Identify and remove blockers to execution, balancing speed of experimentation with system reliability.
  • Contribute to shared platform capabilities that support cross-product growth efforts.
