Electric grid planning depends on enormous amounts of complex data, often spread across disconnected systems and incompatible formats. Tapestry is building a new foundation for managing that complexity. As an Engineering Manager, Grid Model Management, you will lead the team building the platform that brings large-scale grid models together into a consistent, reliable source of truth. This is a highly technical leadership role at the intersection of distributed systems, complex data infrastructure, and the physical power grid. You will set technical direction, grow a high-performing engineering team, and build systems that enable grid planners to manage and evolve complex models with greater speed and confidence.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
8+ years of experience designing and building complex software, distributed systems, or data infrastructure.
3+ years of experience directly managing software engineering teams, including hiring, developing engineers, and delivering complex products.
Strong experience with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and large-scale data platforms, including graph or spatial data systems.
Experience designing systems involving complex state management, data versioning, event-driven architectures, or similar technical challenges.
Strong architectural judgment, with demonstrated experience setting technical direction for complex systems.
Ability to translate complex technical, mathematical, or physical-domain requirements into scalable, reliable software.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with electric grid modeling, transmission planning, power flow, or related power systems concepts.
Experience with industry standards or formats such as CIM/CGMES, PSS/E, PSLF, or similar technologies.
Experience with knowledge graphs, semantic technologies, graph databases, or geospatial systems.
Experience building collaborative platforms involving versioning, editing, review, comparison, or change tracking.

Responsibilities

Architect “Git for the Grid”: Lead the technical strategy for a platform that enables teams to version, compare, branch, merge, and collaborate on large-scale grid models.
Build a scalable grid data foundation: Design systems that bring together complex grid data across different formats, time horizons, and planning scenarios.
Scale ingestion and validation: Develop reliable, high-throughput pipelines and automated quality checks that turn fragmented data into trusted, production-ready models.
Set the technical vision: Define an architecture that can scale with Tapestry’s products, partners, and increasingly complex grid-planning needs.
Build and develop an exceptional team: Hire, mentor, and grow engineers while fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and ownership.
Bridge technology and the energy domain: Partner with Product, UX, Data Science, Machine Learning, and Power Systems experts to translate complex grid challenges into intuitive, reliable software.
Enable global impact: Build capabilities that can adapt to the needs of grid operators and energy partners across different markets and regions.
