Engineering Manager, Discovery Experience
About The Position
DoorDash is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead their Discovery Experience team, which is responsible for the Homepage, DoorDash's front door. This team owns the product and technical direction for the discovery surface, deciding its future direction and how it is built. The Homepage spans restaurants, grocery, and emerging verticals across iOS, Android, and Web. The team is currently rebuilding the Homepage around LLM-generated recommendations, shifting discovery from static, rules-based feeds to generative, intent-driven experiences that respond to real-time signals. The Engineering Manager will set the roadmap and drive execution alongside Product, Design, Data Science, and ML/Recommendation Platform partners. They will own the quality, velocity, and consumer impact of their team's shipments. This role offers significant ownership and the opportunity to grow both the product and the team.
Requirements
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent
- 7+ years of industry experience
- Minimum of 2 years of management experience
- Experience managing engineering disciplines across BE + Android + iOS + Web
- Strong product sense and ability to be a thought partner with cross-functional peers
- Hands-on experience working with non-technical stakeholders, cross-team collaboration, and building scalable products in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to handle ambiguity and work with product and business partners to collect non-technical requirements to design and build scalable experience solutions
- Ability to guide and grow an excellent engineering team in a rapidly changing business environment
Responsibilities
- Own the Homepage end to end, the highest-traffic surface at DoorDash and where every consumer session begins
- Turn Homepage bets into company-level outcomes: real lift in conversion and order rate for millions of consumers
- Define discovery quality for DoorDash: getting the right store, restaurant, or item in front of the right consumer at the right moment
- Ship LLM-gen recommendations and intent-aware discovery that route consumers to the right experience across food, grocery, retail, and emerging verticals
- Partner across Product, Design, Data Science, and ML/Recommendation Platform teams to shape the discovery roadmap and ship the experiences behind it
- Build an inclusive, high-performing team by coaching engineers, supporting career growth, and scaling the org as impact grows
- Drive product velocity while holding a high bar for reliability, performance, and user experience
- Architect the backend systems and APIs that assemble a fast, personalized Homepage across iOS, Android, and Web
