About The Position

Constructor, launched in 2019, is an AI-first e-commerce search and discovery platform. As an Engineering Manager on the Customer Developer Experience (CDX) team, you will lead engineers focused on two key areas: providing hands-on technical guidance to external developers integrating our platform, and building advanced open-source tooling to simplify these integrations. Constructor's open-source technology is used on millions of end-user devices and powers innovative product discovery experiences. You will define the technical strategy for our open-source tooling and enhance the experience for external developers building on our platform. Maintaining trust requires ensuring our libraries are reliable, high-quality, and well-documented, a responsibility that falls under your purview.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of web development experience
  • At least 2 years directly leading an engineering team
  • Strong full-stack development experience, including JavaScript & React
  • Experience with software critical to production environments and/or data/ETL pipelines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively triage issues and prioritize tasks
  • Interest in interacting with customers and solving new problems daily, working closely with internal teams
  • Ability to communicate with clarity in written and verbal context, comfortable engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • English on B2/ C1 level (CEFR) or higher
  • Able to attend regular meetings between 2 and 8 pm UTC
  • Passion to help fuel the continued success of our high-growth startup

Responsibilities

  • Partnering directly with external developers integrating our platform to provide hands-on technical guidance.
  • Building advanced open-source tooling that makes integrations effortless.
  • Setting the technical strategy for our open-source tooling and how it advances the experience of external developers who build on our platform.
  • Ensuring our libraries are reliable, high-quality, and well-documented.
  • Cross functional collaboration and prioritization with product, customer success, data science, and other engineering teams to prioritize features and address customer needs effectively.
  • Balancing team capacity between hands-on integration support and long-term tooling development.
  • Owning the hiring process for your team end to end, from building a strong pipeline to running an effective interview loop and closing engineers.
  • Guiding the development of the engineers on your team, giving direct feedback, creating opportunities that stretch them, and helping them work through obstacles.
  • Setting the standard for the team's tech stack, tooling, and testing practices, and holding a high bar for the quality of what the team ships.
  • Guiding the development of cutting-edge TypeScript/React UI libraries your team ships and maintains.
  • Keeping DevX a first-class priority for external integrators, driving intuitive tools, comprehensive documentation, and reference examples that shorten their time to value.
