About The Position

The Ohio State University's Mansfield campus is seeking an Engineering Lecturer (9M) to teach engineering-related courses, potentially assist in a Physics lab, and contribute to the development and improvement of lectures and labs. This role involves mentoring students in capstone projects, establishing relationships with local industry, and managing labs and equipment. The lecturer will also play a part in student recruitment and retention for the Engineering Technology program, assist in outreach efforts to K-12 students and community organizations, and collaborate with colleagues and students across regional campuses and with partners in the Columbus College of Engineering.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering Technology or Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering
  • Masters or PhD required
  • 5+ years industry hands-on experience preferred
  • Teaching or training, including public speaking experience
  • Communication skills and leadership qualities suitable for working closely with students in an educational environment
  • Strong competency/experience in two or more of the following areas: Integration of automation systems, Programming languages, such as Matlab, Python, and/or C++, CAD or other modeling software, Six Sigma, preferably Master Black Belt, Manufacturing processes, industrial automation, and industry best practices
  • Ability to assist with Physics lab instruction

Responsibilities

  • Teaching engineering-related courses and perhaps assist in a Physics lab
  • Help develop and continuously improve lectures and labs
  • Mentor students in capstone projects
  • Establish relationships with local industry and lead or co-lead student projects
  • Help manage labs and equipment to support academic programs
  • Assist in recruitment of students into the Engineering Technology program and activities that assist in retention of current students
  • Assist in outreach efforts on and off campus with K-12 students and community organizations
  • Work with colleagues and students across regional campuses and with partners in the Columbus College of Engineering
