2027 Engineering Leadership Development Program
About The Position
Gerdau is a major steel manufacturing company with operations in 10 countries and over 30,000 employees. The North American business divisions produce long and special steel products for various markets. Gerdau is committed to stimulating the economy through its recycling operations and mills, utilizing efficient and clean production practices like electric arc furnace (EAF) technology, making its steel a green choice. The G.Future program is designed to develop future leaders for the company through an intensive 12-month program that includes on-the-job learning, classroom training, coaching, and mentorship. Participants will solve large and small-scale problems, manage strategic implementation for business goals, gain in-depth knowledge of the business by visiting customers and suppliers, and develop managerial, interpersonal, analytical, and technical skills. The program offers a Mentorship Program with seasoned professionals to facilitate integration, understanding of Gerdau's values and culture, and provide technical knowledge and business vision. This program is seeking participants for the Melt Shop and Rolling Mill departments at the Petersburg Facility.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Automation, Material Sciences/Metallurgy, or other applicable degree.
- Bachelor's graduate from within the past 3 years, or expected to graduate by Summer 2027.
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 (preferred GPA of 3.0 or above).
- A maximum of 3 years full-time work experience.
- Well-rounded applicants with leadership roles in student organizations or extra-curricular activities.
- High learning agility and willingness to adapt and develop continuously.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring current or future sponsorship.
- Ability to travel to various locations within the United States and Canada during the length of the program.

Responsibilities
- Solve large- and small-scale problems, such as creating mechanical components/assembly drawings.
- Propose business methods to optimize product output.
- Redirect process prioritization to improve current production standards.
- Work as a leader managing the strategic implementation for overall business goals.
- Participate in a Mentorship Program with a seasoned professional.
- Visit customers and suppliers to gain in-depth knowledge of the business.
- Gain a holistic view and acumen of the industry by working with each level of Gerdau North America.
- Travel to various destinations throughout the US and Canada.
- Interact with other G.Futures from across North America while tackling organizational challenges.
- Grow a set of managerial, interpersonal, analytical, and technical skills.
