About The Position

The Engineering Leader will drive a team comprised of 8-10 engineers (mechanical and electrical) to continuously improve and execute to meet company objectives. This role provides project leadership and technical direction for the development of engineering models, services, and capabilities that support business goals. The leader will offer technical oversight, guidance, and assistance to team members to ensure deadlines and budgets are met. Leveraging broad cross-functional business knowledge is key to producing results that improve business performance and gain buy-in from internal customers. Staying current with industry trends, technology offerings, and best practices, and sharing this knowledge to improve team efficiency is essential. The role involves critically assessing engineering processes to identify and implement productive improvements, setting priorities for associates based on stakeholder interests, and collaborating across departments for schedule adherence. Working with other engineering leaders to enable efficient and effective project completion is also a responsibility. Continuous improvement of team performance is achieved by understanding team skillsets and aspirations against business needs, and creating action plans to close gaps. The leader will hold team members to high standards, provide timely feedback, and may perform engineering work as needed. Developing and implementing engineering standards and tool sets to increase engineering efficiency and quality is also part of the role. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • At least five years of engineering experience
  • Three or more years of demonstrated leadership experience
  • Track record of continuous implementing improvements/standardization within solid modeling CAD tools and vault framework.
  • Display progressive design and project management responsibilities in the custom and semi-custom OEM, low volume, high capital, manufacturing industry.
  • Strong background in engineering change processes and related procedures.
  • Experience in high speed automation, OEM equipment, using latest industrial controls platforms
  • Proven track record of leading a team to consistently deliver high-quality products
  • Proficient in relevant engineering software.

  • Critically assess engineering processes and determine most productive improvements to implement.
  • Set priorities for associates in accordance with stakeholder interest; collaborate and communicate across departments to facilitate schedule adherence.
  • Work with other engineering team leaders to enable scheduling resulting in projects that are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Continuously improve team performance by understanding the team’s skillset and aspirations compared to the business needs and create an action plan to close gaps.
  • Hold team members to high standards- provide timely feedback to raise all team members’ level of performance.
  • May perform engineering work as needed.
  • Develop and implement engineering standards and tool sets, increasing engineering efficiency and quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
