About The Position

Ingersoll Rand’s Early Talent Experiences programs are critical to the company’s overall talent strategy. These programs offer hands-on exposure to the business through real projects and work that will challenge interns and grow their skills, alongside mentors. Interns will receive targeted development to position them for a robust career path. The Summer 2027 Engineering Internship Program provides current college students with challenging assignments, leadership training from senior leaders, and networking opportunities. Interns will participate in a 10-12 week program within a business unit, contributing to the engineering design and development of current and new products. This is a paid internship for the Summer of 2027, offering a lump sum housing stipend. Interns must remain flexible on their assigned location, as the internship location cannot be guaranteed. Opportunities are available in Quincy, IL; Springfield, MO; and Bentleyville, PA.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical, Computer, Aerospace or Electrical Engineering with a GPA of 3.0
  • Superior leadership abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication, project management and interpersonal skills
  • Highly motivated to achieve desired goals and objectives in a fast-paced, creative, results-oriented atmosphere
  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills to solve complex business problems
  • Must also be able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with ease
  • Must be detail and results oriented with a proven track record of success

Nice To Haves

  • Modeling CAD skills are preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and development of rotating equipment, including air compressors, blowers, and pumps
  • Assist in projects involving lab testing, new technology innovation, and product analysis
  • Answer marketing/technical/systems/applications questions when requested by peers or internal customers
  • Assist in the testing and verification of software (for Electrical/Software Engineering candidates only)
  • Assist in electrical system design for various products (for Electrical Engineering candidates only)
  • Handle all details of assigned projects from inception to completion within mutually agreed-upon timeframes
  • Must be open and willing to work in an active lab and/or manufacturing environment
