About The Position

UPS is hiring a Summer Engineering Intern to work on targeted projects individually or in small teams. The work involves operational observations, data collection, cross-functional communication, and problem solving. Interns present completed projects to the Industrial Engineering staff. Projects may involve work measurement in Master Standard Data (MSD), cost-benefit analysis, process improvement analysis, operational planning, and exploring and applying AI, automation, and data analytics tools to improve operational efficiency and support engineering initiatives.

Requirements

• Knowledge of Industrial Engineering and/or an engineering-related discipline.
• Effective statistical analysis skills.
• Effective research and communication skills.
• Enthusiasm, idealism, creativity, and dedication to achieving results.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively across business units.
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, a lawful permanent resident, or otherwise authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer; visa sponsorship is not available for this or future positions.
• Must currently be located in the same geographic location as the internship or be willing to relocate at their own expense.
• Must be a current student enrolled in a degreed college or university program, or a recent graduate from such a program within the past 24 months.
• Must be available to work 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Conduct work measurement in Master Standard Data (MSD).
• Perform cost-benefit analysis.
• Analyze processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Support operational planning.
• Explore and apply AI, automation, and data analytics tools to improve operational efficiency and support engineering initiatives.
• Conduct operational observations and collect data.
• Communicate cross-functionally and solve problems.
• Present completed projects to Industrial Engineering staff.
