About The Position

The Piasecki Aircraft Corporation Engineering Internship Program offers a unique opportunity for aspiring engineers to gain hands-on experience in the cutting-edge aerospace research and development industry. Taking place from May 2026 to August 2026, this program is designed to provide interns with meaningful exposure to real-world engineering projects, including design, analysis, and testing of innovative rotorcraft and unmanned aerial vehicle technologies. Interns will work alongside experienced professionals in a collaborative environment, contributing to projects that advance the boundaries of aerospace engineering. Through mentorship, technical training, and team-based activities, participants will develop practical skills while gaining insight into the dynamic field of vertical flight technologies. Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks or other CAD software (academic or practical exposure preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn.
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Must meet U.S. Government export control compliance requirements (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).

Nice To Haves

  • Prior coursework in dynamics, material science, or structural analysis is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in drafting 3D CAD designs for aerospace components using SolidWorks.
  • Support engineering tasks related to the analysis and testing of mechanical and aerostructure systems.
  • Participate in trade studies and design reviews to optimize product configurations.
  • Contribute to the development of stress analysis models for structural components.
  • Collaborate with teams to route electrical harnesses or design mechanical mounting solutions.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical presentations and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support shop floor activities, including fabrication and assembly processes.
  • Perform data analysis and contribute to test set-ups for aerodynamic and mechanical systems.
  • Conduct research on materials and manufacturing techniques for project applications.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.
