About The Position

The Engineering Intern applies engineering principles to design, modify, and develop facilities, testing systems, machinery, equipment, or processes used in product manufacturing. This is a paid internship role.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in a four-year engineering program; juniors or seniors strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.
  • Proficiency in advanced mathematical concepts (e.g., exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, permutations).
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to tasks such as frequency distribution, test reliability/validity, ANOVA, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and interpret technical instructions presented mathematically or graphically.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze product and equipment specifications, performance requirements, and production capabilities to determine feasible designs using existing manufacturing processes and facilities.
  • Review engineering proposals, process requirements, and technical data related to industrial machinery and equipment design.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing systems, considering cost, space, timelines, company objectives, and technical/economic factors.
  • Provide technical guidance regarding manufacturing and processing techniques, materials, properties, and process limitations that impact long-term plant and product engineering plans.
  • Prepare or direct the development of system layouts, detailed drawings, and schematics.
  • Coordinate the manufacturing or construction of prototype products or systems.
  • Review production and operating reports to identify and resolve operational, manufacturing, or maintenance issues, ensuring minimal cost and preventing delays.
  • Compile and analyze operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for new or modified equipment or products.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements by studying engineering and technical publications.
  • Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design (CAD) software and other tools to complete engineering tasks.
