About The Position

This position is designed to provide hands-on exposure to geotechnical engineering while integrating you into a multidisciplinary team spanning civil engineering, geomatics, and construction services. You will have the opportunity to contribute across a range of environments, including office-based analysis and active construction sites, supporting both design and field execution efforts. Expectations are focused on developing technical competence, demonstrating ownership, and contributing to safe, high-quality engineering outcomes.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field; junior or senior standing preferred.
  • Working knowledge of civil and geotechnical fundamentals, including soil mechanics and foundation behavior.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, stay organized, and work through technical problems.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to contribute effectively within a team environment.
  • Willingness and ability to perform fieldwork in varying site conditions, including uneven terrain and weather exposure.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to support field assignments.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is preferred; candidates on the path toward licensure are strongly encouraged.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and geotechnical analysis tools (e.g., Geo5, DeepEx, LPile), or the ability to quickly develop proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in subsurface investigations to document surface and subsurface engineering characteristics
  • Log subsurface conditions and coordinate laboratory testing to develop a defensible understanding of site behavior.
  • Support interpretation of field and laboratory data to identify geotechnical risks and inform design decisions.
  • Contribute to the development of geotechnical recommendations, including foundations, earthwork, and site development considerations.
  • Assist in preparing technical deliverables that clearly communicate subsurface conditions, analyses, and recommendations.
  • Support engineering analyses for earth retention systems, slope stability, and foundation design using industry-standard tools.
  • Assist in developing design details and construction documents for systems such as retaining walls, deep foundations, and ground improvement.
  • Work within AutoCAD to support the preparation of clear, constructable drawings.
  • Perform field observation and testing to verify construction aligns with design intent, including compaction testing and foundation observations.
  • Document field activities and communicate observations to project engineers in a timely and actionable manner.
  • Engage directly with contractors and field crews to support execution and resolve field-driven challenges.
  • Support project coordination, including task tracking, schedule awareness, and internal communication.
  • Contribute to overall office operations by supporting a range of activities, including project delivery, document preparation, and coordination across teams.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical documents, proposals, and supporting materials for project delivery and business development efforts.
  • Support proposal development, including scope definition, coordination, and compilation of deliverables.
  • Gain exposure to project management fundamentals, including scope, budget, and delivery expectations.
  • Take an active role in learning, asking questions, seeking feedback, and building technical judgment through experience.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by project managers or leadership in support of project, office, and organizational objectives.
