VIAVI Solutions is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Engineering Intern to join our dynamic team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in a fast-paced technology environment, contributing to the development and enhancement of cutting-edge solutions for network and service enablement. The preferred locations will be either Chandler, AZ OR Germantown, MD; with some work travel expected on occasion.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Solid foundational understanding of engineering principles relevant to their field of study (e.g., circuit design, programming languages, data structures, networking concepts).
• Familiarity with at least one programming language (e.g., C++, Python, Java) is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

• Prior project experience (academic or extracurricular) demonstrating engineering aptitude is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers in the design, development, and testing of hardware and/or software components for Viavi products.
• Conduct research and gather technical information to support ongoing projects and new product initiatives.
• Participate in debugging and troubleshooting efforts, identifying root causes of issues and proposing solutions.
• Contribute to documentation efforts, including design specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
• Perform data analysis and generate reports to support engineering decisions and project progress.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, quality assurance, and manufacturing.
• Learn and apply industry best practices, tools, and methodologies in engineering.
• Present findings and project updates to mentors and team members.
