Location: Blue Ash, OH Department: Operations Our Internship Experience includes: 12-week paid program beginning the end of May to mid-August to gain insight and knowledge in your field. Interactive orientation and events with skilled professionals in your field, including managers, directors, and CEO. Multiple networking, volunteer and fun events – both virtual and in-person. Impactful projects that make a difference internally and externally for H.B. Fuller. End of summer final presentation to showcase your career development with support from managers and peers. Position Overview: The Engineering Intern will gain hands-on experience supporting manufacturing operations and engineering initiatives at H.B. Fuller's Blue Ash, Ohio facility. This role provides exposure to process engineering, capital project planning, technical documentation, and continuous improvement activities within a chemical manufacturing environment. The intern will partner closely with Process Engineers, Production, EHS, Facilities, and Plant Leadership teams to improve process documentation, support productivity projects, and ensure operating procedures remain accurate and aligned with current practices. This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop practical engineering skills, strengthen cross-functional collaboration, and contribute to projects that drive operational excellence, safety, and business performance.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with AutoCAD or technical drawing software is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering projects focused on process improvement, productivity enhancements, and operational excellence within a manufacturing facility.
  • Review, verify, and update Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) through field observations, collaboration with plant personnel, and AutoCAD revisions.
  • Evaluate opportunities for productivity and cost-savings initiatives by analyzing operational data, KPIs, and project requirements, while assisting with project planning and execution.
  • Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure documentation remains accurate, current, and aligned with site practices and safety requirements.
  • Partner with Engineering, Production, EHS, and Site Leadership teams to provide project updates, support continuous improvement efforts, and contribute to achieving plant objectives.
