The Construction & Materials Bureau is looking for an Intern that is self-motivated and detail oriented to work in the central materials laboratory. This position will assist in the Bituminous materials section with testing primarily of asphalt mixtures. As an Intern you will learn to conduct the different tests the DOT performs on bituminous materials that are used in Hot Mix Asphalt paving projects. The Engineering Student will be exposed to quality control and quality acceptance processes of construction projects, and how this influences the quality of pavement that is constructed. There may be opportunities to assist with testing in other areas including cement, concrete, and aggregates. There will also be opportunities for plant visits, field observation, and data analysis. Special projects could be assigned as needed. This position has the capability of flexible hours. Duration: May-August; 40 hours/week with the possibility to continue part-time (up to 20 hours/week) during the fall semester if student continues to meet eligibility requirements of the program.
