About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Civil or Environmental Engineering Intern focused on Water/Wastewater, based in Akron, Ohio. The internship offers undergraduate and graduate students hands-on experience in engineering, design, and infrastructure projects, with opportunities to learn industry practices, work with technology, collaborate with experienced professionals, develop technical and professional skills, and network. The position is expected to begin in January 2027.

The intern will gain a broad learning experience in their field of study and contribute to water and wastewater infrastructure projects under the guidance of an experienced engineer. Work may involve assessments, planning, design, construction administration, site visits, and client meetings.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field, with at least two years of study completed.
• Candidates who recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree may apply if they plan to pursue a master’s degree and were enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most recent school term.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.
• A valid U.S. driver’s license is required for visiting project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Microsoft Office products, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS Pro, and basic hydraulic modeling software.

Responsibilities

• Participate in assessments, planning, design, and construction administration for water and wastewater infrastructure projects under an experienced engineer.
• Attend site visits and client meetings.
