About The Position
The Manufacturing Engineer Intern will support daily engineering activities within a window manufacturing environment. This role will focus on improving throughput and yield on window production lines while maintaining accurate, up-to-date manufacturing documentation. The intern will gain hands-on experience working directly with engineering, operations, and production teams to drive process improvements and standardization.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong interest in hands-on manufacturing and process improvement.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and process specifications.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Nice To Haves
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement concepts.
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Update and maintain manufacturing documentation, including: Manufacturing Specifications (MSPECs), Operator Manuals, Work instructions and standard operating procedures for window production.
- Support manufacturing engineers with: Process documentation and standardization, Line balancing and workflow improvements, Data analysis related to scrap, yield, and throughput.
- Spend time on the manufacturing floor working closely with operators to understand processes and identify improvement opportunities.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies).
- Ensure documentation accurately reflects current processes and equipment configurations.
