About The Position

The Engineering Intern leads the analysis and reporting of important product characteristics on various product lines. This role actively participates in the development and implementation of processes, part development, and equipment selection/installation. The intern contributes towards meeting the goals of producing quality parts, on-time and at the lowest possible cost. They will develop and document the manufacture of prototype and production components, conduct appropriate analysis work to extract meaning from experimentally created datasets, and make applicable recommendations regarding findings. Communication with Production, Quality, and other Departments is key to keep them informed of progress in technological advances. The role also provides assistance in recommending modifications to tooling, plant equipment, and development of prototypes for efficient manufacturing or to meet performance specifications. The intern acts as a technical resource, providing support to people, processes, products, and equipment. They will support and participate in team meetings to review and resolve issues and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, adhering to Johnson Electric’s policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Third or Fourth Year Engineering student within a Mechanical / Materials / Metallurgical discipline or equivalent
  • Must possess strong analytical skills, acute attention to detail, good organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively with a variety of people.
  • Must have a high level of motivation, initiative and interest in personal achievement.
  • Able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, at all levels of the organization.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participates in the development and implementation of processes, part development and equipment selection / installation
  • Contributes towards meeting the goals of producing quality parts, on-time and at the lowest possible cost
  • Develops and documents the manufacture of prototype and production components
  • Conducts appropriate analysis work to extract meaning from experimentally created datasets and makes applicable recommendations regarding findings.
  • Communicates with Production, Quality and other Departments on a regular basis to keep them well informed of the progress in technological advances made within the scope of this position
  • Provides assistance in the recommendation of modifications to tooling, plant equipment and development of prototypes to permit efficient manufacturing; or to meet performance specifications and serviceability requirements
  • Acts as a technical resource and provides support to the people, processes, products, and equipment employed within the area to which you may be assigned on a day-to-day basis
  • Supports and participates in team meetings to review and resolve Quality, Service, Operations, Facilities, Human Resources and Health & Safety issues where required
  • Participates in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Adheres to Johnson Electric’s policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
