About The Position

Continental Resources' Summer Internship Program provides meaningful, career-specific experiences and hands-on insight into the oil and gas industry. Interns will have the opportunity to be mentored by experienced professionals, network with fellow interns and professionals, and gain exposure to various departments within Continental. The program culminates in a presentation of summer projects to management. The Engineering Intern will receive training on the practical application of engineering concepts to develop solutions for project assignments associated with Continental’s energy assets. The intern will support departments such as Drilling, Completions, Production, Resource Development, or Project Management, with opportunities for both field- and office-based experiences. A department-specific project is assigned, requiring the intern to understand current practices, identify improvements, evaluate solutions, and recommend implementation or review implemented solutions.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in an ABET accredited four (4) year College or University
  • Working towards a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited College or University
  • Eligible to work permanently in the United States upon graduation
  • An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test
  • Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong customer focus and a team player.
  • Effective time management.

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

Responsibilities

  • Work with and provide support to one of the following departments: Drilling, Completions, Production, Resource Development or Project Management.
  • Be assigned a department-specific project, which typically involves learning current practices, identifying areas for improvement, evaluating potential solutions, and recommending implementation or reviewing implemented solutions.
  • Present a summary of the results of their work.
  • Review, understand and participate in Continental’s Brother’s Keeper program.
  • Review daily operation and production reports.
  • Monitor and forecast capital expenditure, expenses, and production.
  • Participate in and contribute to asset team meetings.
  • Maintain, update and QC databases, reports, and records.
  • Understand and articulate the responsibilities of assigned discipline.
  • Contribute to fellow interns’ understanding of assigned discipline.
  • Interface with inter-departmental peers and mentors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
