About The Position

Griffith Company is offering paid summer internship opportunities for students pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or Mathematics. These internships are designed to be learning-intensive, providing students with challenging work and exposure to career opportunities in heavy civil construction. Interns will gain valuable experience, potentially leading to future employment, and will have opportunities to interact with company executives, division managers, and visit construction projects. The program aims to help students define career goals, illuminate academic studies, and strengthen their preparation for the industry.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, or a very similar area.

Responsibilities

  • Perform job site administration and documentation (under supervision).
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a Critical Path Method (CPM) schedule.
  • Track submittals, RFI’s and contract change orders, daily cost vs. project budget, quantities and equipment and project logs.
  • Attend bid review meetings with estimating team to understand the estimate process.
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, soils reports and existing site conditions to determine scope of work.
  • Complete material and quantity take offs according to project scope of work.
  • Assist superintendent and foreman with layout and other technical requirements.
  • Assist with diesel emissions control plans and monitoring.
  • Preparation of work plans and or storm water protection plans.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
