About The Position

EEI is hiring an Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in its Mission Critical practice. The intern will apply classroom learning to active client and internal projects aligned with the selected discipline and, where possible, their degree program. With guidance from experienced team members, assignments may include technical reviews, calculations, research, data analysis, design documentation, schedules, meetings, site visits, field observations, testing, commissioning, project controls, and coordination. Work varies by discipline, project needs, location, and stage of study. The role offers hands-on experience in commissioning engineering and facility and energy consulting. Interns are expected to ask questions, apply feedback, communicate clearly, meet commitments, and contribute as dependable members of multidisciplinary teams. The hourly rate is $25.00. The position is based in Atlanta, Georgia; candidates must live within commuting distance and provide their own reliable transportation. Housing and relocation assistance are not provided. The work environment is a hybrid mix of office, remote, client, and field settings. Local travel is required, with possible out-of-state travel depending on assignments. Site visits may involve active construction areas and existing facilities, uneven surfaces, varying weather, and mechanical and electrical rooms. The intern reports to a designated manager or project leader based on the assignment and partners with project managers, project engineers, technical specialists, discipline teams, coordinators, and other business and support functions. When assigned, the intern may represent EEI to clients, contractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders. EEI is an employee-owned facility and energy consulting company whose services include building commissioning and performance, facility assessments, master planning, energy audits, and technical program management, including work with healthcare, data center, and mission-critical facilities. Benefits and eligibility for interns may vary with employment status, scheduled hours, assignment length, and applicable plan terms; any benefits available for a particular internship will be communicated during recruiting and the offer process.
