Engineering Intern - Technical Program Management (Spring 2027 Co-op)
About The Position
Rivian’s Spring 2027 Co-op is an internship experience for undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in an accredited program during the internship term, with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and 2029. The program runs from January through August 2027. This role requires onsite, full-time availability for the entire duration, at 40 hours per week. Visa sponsorship is not available. The intern will work closely with Rivian’s Silicon Development team. Technical Program Managers drive end-to-end execution of Rivian’s system-on-chip (SoC) development programs for ADAS hardware, from early architecture through tapeout, bring-up, and production. The position is based onsite in Palo Alto for applicants covered by the listed pay range.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD degree at an accredited university.
- Pursuing a degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
- Good communication skills.
- Experience with JIRA or similar tracking workflows for cross-functional tracking and alignment.
- Self-motivated and willing to learn and adapt to changing priorities.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in pre-silicon work such as RTL, design verification, or tapeout.
- Experience in post-silicon work such as bring-up, operations, or supply chain.
Responsibilities
- Own the integrated silicon program plan, including architecture definition, RTL design, design verification milestones, physical design closure, design for test, tapeout, and post-silicon bring-up.
- Coordinate with Architecture, RTL, DV, Firmware, Software, Package/Board, and Supply Chain teams to remove bottlenecks and align hardware-software co-design.
- Coordinate external partners, including semiconductor foundries, IP vendors, and ASIC design services.
- Identify critical-path schedule risks, monitor design maturity, track coverage metrics, and maintain clear escalation paths.
- Serve as the primary liaison between engineering teams and executive leadership, translating technical trade-offs into actionable decisions.
