About The Position

Intern will be helping to support construction of large generation projects to include wind, solar, hydro, or natural gas platforms. They will report directly to the MPG Project Manager. The role will support the PM in tracking project deliverables, contract management, reporting, as well as conducting field inspections and safety audits during construction. The intern will also support the Project Engineer as needed with reviewing submittments, responding to RFI’s, and supporting quality control activities. Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Work as an entry level engineering analyst performing tasks spanning all aspects of plant operations including engineering, project management and construction. Provide submittal coordination, drawing support, construction planning and oversight, schedule review, quality control support, and vendor outreach and coordination, with some exposure to budgeting. Work with the Project Management and Engineering staff, supporting requests from operations and engineering, in making performance/efficiency improvement recommendations. Leverage communication skills to develop relationships with key project stakeholders including environmental, land rights, various engineering groups, project controls, external consultants and development partners, and other necessary groups to support project planning. Acquire and develop knowledge in assigned areas by interacting and learning from these sources. Meet established turnaround time criteria for assigned projects to foster internal stakeholder participation and support project goals. Innovate new methods to improve stakeholder engagement and team effectiveness.

Requirements

  • A current Sophomore or Junior (as of Fall 2026)
  • Enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Environmental Engineering.
  • Must be local to Colorado and attend school in-state (CO)
  • Able to travel/commute to multiple offices/sites in Denver Metro area and Eastern Colorado.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to communicate effectively; both written and verbally
  • Must be self- motivated, have good mechanical aptitude, and ability to work well with others
  • Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the fall (up to 20 hours a week).
