About The Position

AECOM is seeking a motivated Engineering Intern to support our Coastal and Water Resources Engineering work in Texas. This position is expected to begin in June 2027. This internship offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience working on real-world engineering, design, and infrastructure projects while learning from experienced professionals in a collaborative, globally recognized firm. Interns will support a broad range of project activities and develop technical, analytical, and professional skills in a dynamic environment. This role is designed to help bridge the gap between academic learning and professional practice, providing exposure to project workflows, engineering standards, and multidisciplinary teamwork.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Ocean, Environmental Engineering, or related field with the intent to continue enrollment after an internship.
Must have completed a year of study in the applicable program.

Nice To Haves

Experience/interest in one or more of the following areas: hydrology and hydraulics, stormwater management, green infrastructure / low impact development, water quality modeling / monitoring, coastal engineering and analyses, coastal science, and civil infrastructure design.
Exposure to engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Civil3D, ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS or similar tools.
Interest in coastal and water resources engineering and related infrastructure work.
Ability to adapt to short-term assignments while maintaining focus on long-term project goals.
Past internship experience.

Responsibilities

Assist with engineering tasks under the supervision of experienced engineers or project managers.
Support the preparation of design calculations, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and visual aids.
Contribute to preliminary and final design development for engineering projects.
Collect, organize, and analyze data to support project decisions and technical reporting.
Assist with field work, site visits, inspections, and field data collection as needed.
Support the development of project documentation, reports, and presentations.
Use engineering software and standard office tools to help solve basic engineering problems.
Collaborate with project teams and contribute to a variety of assignments aligned with the intern’s field of study.
Perform additional related duties as assigned.
