About The Position

The Energy Conversion Systems (ECS) at General Motors is a fast-paced team focused on developing propulsion technology. This role is within the ECS Fluids and Thermal Hardware organization, which creates leading-edge propulsion hardware including thermal management, fluid storage, ventilation, pressurized lubrication, transmission shift controls, torque converters, clutches, and battery safety. These components provide industry-leading performance and customer value for current and future GM Vehicles. The position is for a first-level people leader (Engineering Group Manager) responsible for hardware design and release within ECS, seeking motivated, forward-thinking, innovative, high-performing people leaders with a balance of strategic and tactical skills to contribute to GM’s Zero, Zero, Zero vision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
  • 7+ years of engineering experience in all phases of product development from initiation to launch
  • Knowledge of GM engineering processes, tools, and vehicle / propulsion development processes
  • Working knowledge of ICE propulsion and Electric Vehicle propulsion
  • Experience leading projects and people (directly or indirectly), with highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated organization and planning capability, with the ability to quickly identify and remove roadblocks and escalate as appropriate
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills, with proven capability to balance technical and business needs
  • Strong collaboration skills and enterprise business acumen
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity and support timely decision making
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments with a high level of composure and proven results
  • DFSS black belt
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally

Nice To Haves

  • Masters in Engineering, Management or Business Administration
  • Prior DRE experience
  • Prior people leader experience
