About The Position

The Manager, Propulsion System Interface and Serial Data Calibration leads a horizontal calibration team responsible for delivering robust propulsion interface and serial data solutions that support multiple vertical calibration organizations across gas engine, diesel engine, and PHEV applications. The role combines people leadership, technical direction, and cross-functional execution ownership across controller messaging, diagnostics, interface features, regulatory verification, and system-level issue resolution. Success in this role requires strong technical judgment, disciplined execution, and the ability to align work across software, controls, safety, validation, and vehicle teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Automotive, or related field).
  • 8+ years of experience in engine powertrain calibration, controls, or related propulsion systems development.
  • Strong understanding of engine powertrain operation, emissions, diagnostics, and calibration development processes.
  • 3+ years of technical or people leadership experience.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in a matrixed, fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support vehicle programs, calibration testing trips, or cross-site collaboration.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or related technical field.
  • Experience leading calibration work across multiple vehicle programs or technical domains.
  • Knowledge of global emissions regulations and compliance processes.
  • Demonstrated success driving standardization, process improvement, or capability development.
  • Experience working with global or geographically distributed teams.

Responsibilities

  • Set clear goals, expectations, and development plans aligned with business priorities.
  • Support performance management, succession planning, and technical capability growth.
  • Drive execution excellence across planning, development, validation, and launch phases.
  • Set priorities and align team execution across multiple programs, software levels, and supported calibration organizations.
  • Resolve complex cross-functional issues that cut across software, controls, safety, and vehicle integration.
  • Represent calibration perspectives in technical reviews, program forums, and leadership discussions.
  • Provide technical leadership for serial data calibration, including ECM/PCM/TCM message mapping, controller-to-controller communication, CAN and LIN messaging, and messaging diagnostics.
  • Provide technical guidance and decision-making support on controls, diagnostics and communication strategy, methods, and issue resolution.
  • Lead calibration and validation of propulsion system interface features such as fuel gauge behavior, tire-size related speedometer and odometer accuracy, remote vehicle start, theft and immobilizer functions, post-collision fuel shutoff, generator controls, and related system interfaces.
  • Align calibration work to broader organizational, regulatory, and product strategies.
  • Support long-term capability planning, workload balancing, and resource alignment.
  • Foster a culture of innovation that focuses on strategic opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and speed.

Benefits
