About The Position

This position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of various systems and equipment throughout the resort, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, refrigeration, architectural, and structural systems. The role may involve operating projection and sound equipment for special events, maintaining equipment and maintenance records, and potentially operating and maintaining boilers and associated equipment, including mixing and analyzing boiler chemicals. Additionally, the position involves training and directing personnel in lower-rated positions.

Requirements

  • Ability to work shift and days designated by the Director of Engineering/Assistant/Supervisor/Operations Assistant.
  • Must be able to work in excess of 40 hours per week, when needed.
  • Ability to use the telephone and radio.
  • Ability to use various office equipment including but not limited to calculators, photocopiers and facsimile machines.
  • Ability to use repair and maintenance tools and equipment, i.e., refrigerant recovery machine, vacuum pump, torch, tubing cutter, wrenches, screwdrivers, tubing bender, electrical tester, drill, leveler, hammer, flashlight, snake, utility knife, wire strippers, manifold refrigerant gages, socket set, knee pads and gloves.
  • Ability to use a cart or wagon, utility cart, vehicle.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload.
  • Able to manage stressful and challenging situations.
  • Able to stand and walk during most of shift.
  • Able to bend, squat, stoop, lay down, reach, climb ladders to perform repair, maintenance and installation work.
  • Lift/carry and push/pull up to and over 50 lbs.
  • Able to lead and direct lower rated personnel.
  • Must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing to employees, managers, vendors and guests/clients.
  • Ability to communicate over the phone and radio.
  • 2 year college or 3 years related work experience.
  • Must be able to read and understand technical manuals, work orders, written instructions, etc.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Driver's License when operating a vehicle.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and HIOSH, safety, building codes and laws pertaining to his particular trade.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, repair, inspection, and calibration of electrical, mechanical, structural, and architectural equipment and systems.
  • Provide electrical, mechanical, and carpentry support for function set-ups for clients and guests.
  • Operate boiler, chiller, and associated auxiliary equipment.
  • Respond to trouble calls, troubleshoot problems, order parts, and perform repairs.
  • Perform maintenance and repair on assigned work orders.
  • Conduct electrical, mechanical, or construction-related maintenance and upkeep of the hotel building and related fixtures and functions.
  • Communicate with vendors and manufacturers to troubleshoot and order necessary products and parts.
  • Assist in special projects.
  • Complete work assignments in a timely manner.
  • Follow safety procedures and standards.
  • Care for and clean tools and equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
  • Assist other maintenance personnel as required.
  • Keep shop and work area clean and orderly.
  • Train, advise, and direct personnel in lower rate positions as assigned.
