About The Position

The Loudoun County Department of Building and Development is seeking a dynamic, collaborative leader to serve as Engineering Division Manager. This role requires a blend of strong leadership, technical expertise, strategic judgment, and excellent communication skills to foster relationships across county government, the development community, and the public. As a senior staff member, the manager will oversee the daily operations of a workgroup exceeding 20 staff, including four direct reports. Key responsibilities include enhancing cooperation between work groups, ensuring consistent and fair application of codes and regulations, and managing the Division's budget and strategic initiatives. The position involves frequent interaction with various stakeholders such as the County Attorney's Office, state code and investigative officials, contractors, developers, engineers, architects, and residents, all aimed at safeguarding the health, safety, welfare, and prosperity of Loudoun County's residents and businesses. This position is eligible for a $6,000 hiring bonus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a four year college or university accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technologies with coursework related to the assigned area.
  • Six (6) years of professional engineering and construction management work experience of a complex nature with direct design as well as administrative experience.
  • Three (3) years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Driving record check.
  • Credit check.
  • Criminal background check.

Responsibilities
