Engineering Director, Transportation
About The Position

We're looking for an Engineering Director to join our team in Oakland, CA, someone with project management experience in civil and/or transportation work, who's excited to lead impactful roadway and active transportation projects that reflect our mission and values. Requirements
- Professional Engineering license in CA and local/regional consulting experience (PE or TE required)
- 15+ years of engineering experience, with a focus on multimodal and streetscape projects, including concept design through construction documents and/or public agency coordination
- 10+ years leading projects and teams, with strong experience in business development and client relationship management
- Expertise in civil/transportation engineering and AutoCAD; experience in developing construction documents, cost estimates, navigating Caltrans permitting, and delivering complex multimodal and active transportation projects
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of high-quality multimodal transportation projects that make communities safer and more connected.
- Guide civil design on everything from roadway reconstructions and urban streetscapes to signature trail corridors and active transportation networks-collaborating with clients and interdisciplinary teams from concept through construction.
- Mentor junior staff.
- Lead stakeholder engagement.
- Turn complex challenges into creative, buildable solutions.
- Support business development across California and the West.
- Lead the design and implementation of bike boulevards, road diets, intersection improvements, and other elements that make the streets and public space in our communities safer and more livable.
