Engineering Designer (All Levels)

Further information is available at www.newflyer.com . POSITION SUMMARY Accountable for completion of design tasks and projects from concept to implementation in production. This will include all related design activities including calculations, communications, models/drawings, programs, and bill of material releases.
Requirements
- University Degree or Technical Diploma in engineering or related field
- 1+ years of experience in engineering or a related field
- Strong CAD/Unigraphics experience
- Strong teamwork, problem solving and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to work independently
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite
Nice To Haves
- Manufacturing and assembly experience is an asset
Responsibilities
- Completes design tasks and project assignments which support production activities.
- Coordinates own tasks to ensure schedule and dates are met considering vendor and production lead times.
- Includes maintaining task status and recording time on each task.
- Creates designs that meet customer specifications, Technical Summaries, other contracts documents and ensure designs are within manufacturing abilities.
- Ensures compliance with design criteria and all applicable regulations.
- Completes or initiates controlled testing of components and installations in order to meet contractual obligations, ensure product reliability and verify component fit.
- Completes technical drawings and release documents in accordance with Engineering procedures and ENAs (Notices of Action).
- Provides Engineering support to Production, Quality Assurance, Customer Service Support, and other departments as required.
- Interacts with vendors and customers on design related issues.
- Ensures that, where applicable, there are documents of vendor approval on new installations or applications.
