About The Position

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an Engineering Designer to join its Civil/Site Discipline in Newburgh, NY. This role involves the practical application of engineering principles through data collection, processing, and evaluation, as well as assisting in the preparation of technical reports, plans, and contract documents. The level of involvement will depend on the individual's exposure and experience. The team works on diverse projects including large warehousing complexes, sporting arenas, commercial/residential developments, and mixed-use establishments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field).
  • 0-2+ years of related experience.
  • Strong CAD skills, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, HydroCAD, and WaterCAD.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer in Training preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.
  • Interest in Civil/Site Engineering projects; prior experience preferred but not required.
  • Land Development project experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering calculations and create estimates.
  • Develop drawings by modifying or replicating prior projects, applying changes from redlined drawings, or creating drawings from sketches or own designs.
  • Ensure designs comply with company and client production and design standards.
  • Perform QA/QC by verifying design methodology, calculations, and outcomes.
  • Interpret and understand drawings from multiple disciplines and respond to requests for information.
  • Conduct field inspections and surveys, investigate variables, obtain measurements, photographs, videos, and take notes; write reports documenting findings.
  • Research and apply code provisions to design.
  • Work with senior engineers to create project designs.
  • Utilize AutoCad Civil 3D on a daily basis.
  • Research design options and document findings for the project manager.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures, using judgment to adapt and modify existing designs.
  • Assist Project Engineers and leaders as needed in the creation of designs.
