This co-op position is designed to help students confirm their interest in becoming an Operations Engineer. Participants will be tasked with real company projects to understand the role and responsibilities of working in manufacturing. The role involves impacting bottom-line company results through tasks such as incorporating new machines and maximizing process efficiencies. The co-op will receive in-depth training on Rust-Oleum's Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing Initiatives, including Toyota Production System training (5S, 8 Wastes, Quick Changeover (SMED) & Root Cause Problem Solving). Specific projects will be in processing, milling, and paint making operations, focusing on equipment and process changes to improve efficiency, throughput, and safety. Additional projects may involve Lean & Six Sigma activities or efficiency and safety projects for the packaging production area. Housing is provided at UW Parkside - Pike River Suites.
