The descriptions below reflect potential environments and duties within our various Engineering Co-op/Intern positions that we offer. Work environments and projects may include but are not limited to: Manufacturing & Operations Support equipment, process, quality, and new model activities within manufacturing areas such as Assembly, Weld, Paint, Stamping, Casting, and Machining Installation of new tooling including designing and building end of arm tooling, mold installation, process maturation and robot programming Assist with project management activities, schedules, and tracking daily processes Analyze manufacturing problems and support root cause investigations Research new technologies and help implement improvement countermeasures Troubleshoot manufacturing issues during installation, testing, and production Quality & Testing Assist with vehicle and/or component testing for systems such as chassis, brakes, controls, body panels, and electrical systems Support development and execution of test procedures, fixtures, and validation methods Recreate failures to determine root cause and verify effectiveness of countermeasures Analyze warranty and quality data to identify trends and improvement opportunities Document results through technical reports and presentations Facilities & Infrastructure Update and maintain 2D and 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) drawings for existing facilities and utilities Support analysis and design of sanitation, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), building pressure, power, and lighting systems Assist with infrastructure modification designs and short‑ and long‑term improvement solutions Review electrical and structural drawings; verify field conditions Provide general facilities and engineering department support Tooling, Equipment & Automation Design manufacturing equipment and tooling using 2D and 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) systems Assist with specifying electrical hardware, controls, Programmable Logic Controller (PLCs), Human Machine Interface (HMIs), and safety requirements Support equipment installation, validation, and troubleshooting activities Assist with managing timelines and coordination of tooling projects Research, Design & Product Engineering Support design engineers in the development of future models, components, and systems Support the development of vehicle testing and countermeasure analysis Assist with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) modeling, drawing creation, and design change requests Perform cost, weight, and feasibility calculations Support testing and development of mechanical and electrical systems through data collection, analysis, and reporting Participate in cross‑functional meetings with manufacturing, testing, suppliers, and engineering teams Purchasing & Supplier Support Assist in assessing supplier process capabilities Support problem reporting, investigation, and countermeasure implementation Calculating part and tooling costs for injection molded automotive parts Participating in cost-reduction projects related to the introduction of new vehicles Verify and evaluate effectiveness of supplier corrective actions Assist with suspect part investigations and part change approvals Materials, Welding & Laboratory Support Support mass production and new model activities through failure analysis and materials testing Prepare samples for metallurgical testing (cutting, grinding, polishing) Perform mechanical and metallurgical tests including hardness, tensile, compression, and weld evaluations Conduct destructive weld testing and material evaluations; log and analyze results Summarize findings in written technical reports and presentations
