The newly-formed Embedded Software (ESW) group in North America develops innovative new technology to enable world-leading wireless communications capabilities for US Government applications. We are looking for talented, passionate ESW engineering students with an interest in designing and implementing systems using advanced engineering design principles to create new capabilities in the areas of wireless communications, sensors, audio processing, and image processing systems. In this role you will design and develop prototype systems that demonstrate novel capabilities for a diverse range of products. Whereas Cambridge Consultants has produced innovations linked below for commercial entities, our team has been spun out in order to provide this sort of advanced capability for US Government clients. Ultra-reliable communications for satellites IP block acceleration of Voice Activity Detection using custom in-house DSP cores Map-based indoor navigation using sensor fusion Next generation commercial radio receiver design Communications system for a fleet of bots in a challenging indoor environment You’ll engage with clients that are stretching the art of the possible by combining a thirst for solving problems, a desire to push technology to its limits, and a creative and collaborative mindset.

Requirements

  • Pursuing an MS or BS in a field related to embedded software (e.g., computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, physics, mathematics, etc.)
  • Some software development work experience: this can be internships, co-ops, personal, or open-source projects
  • C, C++, or Rust programming and software engineering skills
  • Experience with scripting and analysis tools such as MATLAB or Python
  • Good testing habits: unit testing, system testing, regression testing, etc.
  • Verbal and written communication skills to convey your designs and ideas.

Nice To Haves

  • A passion for embedded software with a desire to broaden your horizons in new and exciting areas.
  • Experience in developing in a Linux environment.
  • Experience in writing and debugging software on embedded platforms.
  • Experience with common microprocessors or microcontrollers (i.e., MSP430, STM32, PIC, AVR, ESP32)
  • Experience with real-time operating systems.
  • Experience with wireless protocols such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and ZigBee
  • Exposure to relevant industry communication interfaces such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, USB
  • Experience with common test equipment such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop prototype systems that demonstrate novel capabilities for a diverse range of products.
  • Work on a wide range of diverse, fast-paced, and challenging projects within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Develop innovative new technology to enable world-leading wireless communications capabilities for US Government applications.
  • Design and implement systems using advanced engineering design principles to create new capabilities in the areas of wireless communications, sensors, audio processing, and image processing systems.
  • Engage with clients that are stretching the art of the possible by combining a thirst for solving problems, a desire to push technology to its limits, and a creative and collaborative mindset.
  • Work with colleagues to help our clients define requirements, develop project architecture and design, and deliver solutions.
  • Play a significant role in client proposals and RFI/RFP responses from initial brief to final sales presentations.
  • Nurture and expand existing account relationships.
  • Identify potential personal business relationships that can be leveraged by the practice to develop new business.
  • Identify potential project extension and expansion opportunities while staffed on projects.
  • Support the development of thought leadership and innovative offerings as they relate to AI/Data Science, Digital Customer Analytics, and Operational Analytics.
  • Support the upskilling of the team members on topics related to Data & Analytics.
