The Engineering Automation Systems Specialist is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and improving the software systems used by Smardt’s engineering departments. These systems include configurable Autodesk Inventor assemblies, iLogic automation, Inventor add-ins, standalone engineering applications, SQL-backed systems, standard-parts libraries, document-generation tools, and AI-assisted engineering applications. The primary purpose of the role is to ensure that existing engineering automation systems remain reliable, properly supported, and effectively used by employees. The position investigates reported software issues, reproduces and documents defects, coordinates or implements corrective actions, trains users, gathers structured feedback, and identifies opportunities to improve system usability and performance. The role acts as a key connection between engineering users and the Engineering Systems & Automation function. It ensures that user needs, recurring problems, adoption barriers, and improvement requests are documented, prioritized, and communicated. The position may also contribute to software testing, configuration, documentation, minor enhancements, and the development of new engineering automation solutions under the direction of the Manager, Engineering Systems & Automation. This role is 100% on site and you'll be expected to work on a daily basis, side-by-side, with your team.
