About The Position

Centrus is expanding—and we’re looking for an Assistant Engineering Manager who’s ready to help shape the future of our centrifuge fabrication capabilities. In this role, you’ll support major facility growth efforts, guide technical decision‑making, and help lead a team responsible for the safe, efficient development and modernization of critical fabrication systems. You’ll partner across engineering, construction, operations, safety, and project management to ensure our expansion projects move forward with precision and compliance. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering
  • 5–10 years of engineering experience in advanced equipment design, fabrication systems, or regulated environments
  • Experience leading engineering projects or small technical teams
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, rotating machinery, tooling systems, or production equipment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Q‑level security clearance
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering
  • Experience with centrifuge fabrication equipment, custom process systems, or facility expansion projects
  • Background in DOE, NNSA, aerospace, nuclear, or other highly regulated industries
  • Familiarity with standards such as ASME, ANSI, or NQA‑1

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Engineering Manager by coordinating daily engineering activities and providing technical leadership for centrifuge fabrication equipment and facility expansion systems.
  • Oversee the development, installation, modification, and optimization of specialized fabrication tools and supporting infrastructure—always ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, nuclear handling, and security requirements.
  • Support troubleshooting and system reliability improvements.
  • Contribute to project schedules, cost estimates, technical specifications, and procurement packages.
  • Engage in reviews, hazard analyses, and readiness evaluations.
  • Validate engineering documentation.
  • Monitor contractor and vendor performance.
  • Keep senior leadership informed on system performance, project progress, and engineering risks.
