Interested in joining the team that plans, designs, constructs, and operates more than 2,200 miles of roadway in unincorporated Pima County? We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Transportation Planning and Engineering Assistant. This role involves collaborating with senior site managers, planners, and engineers to support the department's mission. In this role, responsibilities include reviewing plans and specifications for public Capital Improvement Projects and private development transportation projects. Additionally, you will evaluate various professional engineering reports and documents to ensure compliance with local and national standards. You will also assess the impacts of projects on the county's transportation network and provide guidance and assistance to both internal teams and external stakeholders regarding local requirements. Experience and thorough understanding of transportation planning and engineering principles are a plus as well as experience in reviewing technical documents, writing and/or enforcing specifications, policies and procedures. The successful candidate will work on a wide range of technical, non-technical, and policy issues to advance Pima County's transportation's priorities, operating under the guidance of a Senior Site Manager while reviewing capital improvement plans, new development plats, evaluating transportation impact studies, and serving as the project lead or collaborator on the County's Bridge Maintenance and Improvement Program. The ideal candidate will be passionate about transportation safety and possess excellent communication skills and will report to the Planning & Engineering Division within the Department of Transportation with a focus on the department’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
