About The Position

Wieland is seeking an Engineering and Maintenance Development Manager to lead improvements in the Engineering and Maintenance Departments in East Alton. This role focuses on enhancing people and processes to foster a reliability culture. The goal is to enable a safe, skilled, and engaged workforce to leverage data-driven systems, maintenance technology, and continuous improvement methods, acting as a strategic and tactical partner within Wieland Rolled Products North America. This is a fully on-site position located in East Alton, IL.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of managerial experience
  • Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance practices using reliability tools such as Pareto analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).
  • Ability to communicate and make decisions, adapt to cultural change, and work within a diverse environment.
  • Skills to manage conflict, coach, and mentor.
  • Experience as both a "strategic" and "tactical" leader.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage large budgets.
  • Engineering, Maintenance Reliability project management experience.
  • CMMS experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • CMRP certification a plus.
  • SAP experience a plus.
  • Experience in a union environment implementing change initiatives considered a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Site Engineering and Maintenance Lead, Maintenance Managers, and Engineering Managers to develop and deploy Asset Management and Reliability Strategies within the East Alton complex.
  • Define and implement standard work within the maintenance function.
  • Assess current technical skill levels of maintenance and engineering employees, identify gaps, and develop training opportunities to close them.
  • Develop training programs using standards and technical skill requirements to attract non-incumbent employees to the maintenance team.
  • Serve as the program manager for East Alton Maintenance apprenticeship programs.
  • Develop a roadmap for East Alton engineers to acquire skills for Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification.
  • Coach and mentor the team to build and maintain the necessary skills and habits for sustained success.
  • Develop and implement a skills matrix with human resources to drive a training and succession plan.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve operating efficiencies through lean methodologies.
