Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years hands-on model making, fabrication, and finishing experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or associate degree preferred.
  • Proficient in woodworking, machining, welding, and bonding techniques.
  • Skilled in mold making, casting, and vacuum forming processes.
  • Ability to read/interpret engineering and CAD drawings.
  • Experience with hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery.
  • Capable of lifting up to 35 pounds, standing for extended periods, and working in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Team player who also excels independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience creating and working with 3D models.
  • Advanced finishing and painting techniques.
  • Prior work in rapid prototyping or industrial design environments.

Responsibilities

  • Apply expert painting, coating, and finishing techniques to achieve exceptional model surfaces.
  • Fill and fair surfaces with precision for smooth, flawless finishes.
  • Assemble complex models and prototypes from wood, metal, plastics, and composites.
  • Operate and maintain woodworking tools, ensuring accurate cutting, shaping, and joining.
  • Interpret engineering and CAD drawings to guide precise model creation.
  • Fabricate, machine, weld, and bond various materials to build robust prototypes.
  • Design and create molds and castings using silicone, urethane, epoxy, and other materials.
  • Utilize vacuum forming equipment to shape thermoplastics into complex forms.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and use PPE, including safety shoes, at all times.
