About The Position

The Southwest Florida Water Management District (District) is seeking an Engineer to support the Surface Water Improvement and Management (SWIM) Program. This position will focus on natural systems restoration and water quality improvements. The role involves a variety of tasks depending on experience, including field reconnaissance, construction administration, hydraulic/hydrologic model review, stormwater retrofit design, plans and specifications review, contract management, negotiations, stakeholder engagement, project tracking, budget preparation, and cost tracking. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring some on-site presence and allowing for remote work, with the condition of residing in Florida. Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Conducts technical review of studies, engineering designs, hydrologic & hydraulic (H&H) models, and construction documents supporting natural systems restoration and water quality improvement projects.
  • Manages/Supports SWIM District Initiatives, ensuring alignment with project objectives, District priorities, and compliance with District procedures and policies.
  • Negotiates scopes of work and associated professional service fees with consultants and partners.
  • Leads project and technical presentations to internal teams, governing bodies, and external stakeholders.
  • Provides technical guidance, mentorship, and engineering practice support to staff engineers and scientists.
