The Southwest Florida Water Management District (District), a leader in protecting Florida's water resources, is seeking an Engineer in support of the Surface Water Improvement and Management (SWIM) Program. This position will work on a wide variety of projects related to natural systems restoration and water quality improvements aimed at protecting and restoring our most valuable natural resources. The duties assigned to the selected candidate depend on experience level and may include field reconnaissance, construction administration, hydraulic/hydrologic model review, stormwater retrofit design, plans and specifications review, contract management, negotiations, working with stakeholders, project tracking, preparing budgets, and cost tracking. The District supports employees who prefer a flexible schedule or a remote work schedule so that they can enjoy their time outside of the District through work-life balance. This role is considered hybrid, which means the employee will be required to come on-site and work a portion of their time remotely (must live in Florida). Responsibilities

  • Conducts technical review of studies, engineering designs, hydrologic & hydraulic (H&H) models, and construction documents supporting natural systems restoration and water quality improvement projects.
  • Manages/Supports SWIM District Initiatives, ensuring alignment with project objectives, District priorities, and compliance with District procedures and policies.
  • Negotiates scopes of work and associated professional service fees with consultants and partners.
  • Leads project and technical presentations to internal teams, governing bodies, and external stakeholders
  • Provides technical guidance, mentorship, and engineering practice support to staff engineers and scientists.
