Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
2 years of engineering or closely related experience
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Strong leadership and supervisory skills with a focus on team development
Expertise in infrastructure inspection, maintenance, and program management
Ability to make independent, technically sound decisions
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong project management capabilities, including budgeting and contract oversight
Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external partners
Analytical problem-solver with the ability to manage complex engineering programs

Responsibilities

Oversee key engineering programs, including bridge inspections, stormwater pipe lining, and toll bridge major maintenance.
Lead and develop engineering and technical staff, providing guidance on technical and policy matters.
Review CIP plans, evaluate easement vacation requests, and approve overweight/over-limit permits.
Prepare bid documents and manage outsourced contracted work for DOT-OPS projects.
Provide engineering expertise across DOT-OPS divisions and coordinate with consultants, contractors, and agencies.
Manage grants and ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
Serve as essential staff during county emergencies and support rapid response activities.
Contribute to long-term planning and implement industry best practices to enhance department performance.
