Breaking Ground is an organization dedicated to providing housing and services to people experiencing homelessness. They operate nearly 4,000 units of housing across New York City, upstate New York, and Connecticut, focusing on supportive housing that combines affordable housing with long-term services. Their programs, such as Street to Home outreach and transitional housing, aim to help individuals move from street homelessness to permanent homes. The Prince George, located in Manhattan, is one of their key properties, offering 416 units of permanent supportive housing to low-income New Yorkers, people living with HIV/AIDS, and chronically homeless individuals, including those with mental illness. The Center for Urban Community Services provides onsite social services, while Breaking Ground manages property services for this historic building. The Engineer position, reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, is part of the property management department responsible for maintaining the common areas and apartments of residential buildings. This includes spaces like offices, multi-purpose rooms, roof decks, gardens, trash collection areas, lobbies, fitness rooms, and sidewalks. The role requires basic plumbing, woodworking, and electrical work to ensure these areas are well-maintained. This is a full-time position with a 35-hour work week.
