About The Position

Under general supervision, manages execution and timely completion of basic engineering projects by analyzing project scope and determining project specifications, establishing test programs for product investigations, analyzing test programs for adequacy and sequence, examining samples for compliance with UL requirements, and preparing reports for clients with supervision. Assists in the development of UL requirements, test methods, and test equipment. May exercise Project Handler Signature Authority as Project Handler of record responsible for opening, maintenance, completion, and closing of assigned new work engineering projects.

Requirements

  • University Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or Physics from an accredited program.
  • No experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Manages basic engineering projects as assigned.
  • Takes the lead on project status communications and client concerns.
  • Works with team to resolve issues.
  • Understands test standards, testing technology, regulations, and certifications for scope of responsibility.
  • Has detailed understanding of test techniques, procedures, and equipment.
  • Performs standard test procedures when necessary.
  • Supports assigned customers in the lab.
  • Directs testing as needed for basic engineering projects.
  • Supports Sales staff to determine project specifications such as cost, time, and sample requirements by analyzing client input, available supplemental data, and product construction.
  • Works with Sales and customer to negotiate completion dates and sample requirements for area assigned.
  • Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of project process and customer level.
  • Travel may be possible to conduct or witness tests at other UL locations or client sites, attendance at industry related events, and other.
  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct, and follow all physical and digital security practices.
  • Performs other duties as directed.
