UGI Corporation•Wilkes-Barre, PA

About The Position

This Engineer position designs natural gas facilities for replacement and upgrades. The work includes identifying mains for replacement due to leakage or system reinforcement and incorporating projects into the annual budget. The Engineer develops complete, constructable project packages and cost estimates; coordinates design priorities with capital construction teams, operations, and other stakeholders; arranges bidding, permits, and materials; and advises construction teams throughout projects. The position also determines facility relocations and adjustments needed for other utility work or municipal highway reconstruction and paving, and provides technical and project-management support to operations departments during facility installations. After completing appropriate training, the employee serves as a crew supervisor in a rotating after-hours on-call role. The position level—Engineer I, II, or III—is determined based on experience established during the interview process. The role reviews third-party roadway construction plans for conflicts and coordinated maintenance needs; researches internal records and system conditions to plan facility replacements; designs replacement and betterment projects; and coordinates project design, construction, operations, labor, materials, and permits. The Engineer monitors projects from pre-construction through construction and closeout, helps resolve field challenges and design changes, monitors costs, and reviews as-built documentation. The position also supports local operating areas during abnormal conditions, helps develop emergency response plans, and represents the company at construction and utility meetings. Other assignments and special projects may be directed by the Manager Area Engineering or Senior Manager Area Engineering.
