About The Position

The Engineer VI - Engineering Manager will work to build and manage a bridge group in RailPros Chicago office, and applies a thorough knowledge of current principles and practices of engineering as related to the variety of aspects affecting his or her organization. This position applies knowledge and expertise acquired through progressive experience to resolve crucial issues and/or unique conditions. The Engineer VI - Engineering Manager keeps informed of new methods and developments affecting his or her organization and recommends new practices or changes in emphasis of programs, while working on programs of limited complexity and scope.

Requirements

  • Proficient with electronic communication including e-mail and text, as well as standard office applications (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Possess advanced oral and written communication skills
  • Represent the organization and maintain liaison with individuals and related organizations
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program
  • 10+ years prior experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) in Illinois
  • Structural Engineer (SE) in Illinois

Responsibilities

  • Lead a technical railroad structures discipline team for the Chicago office
  • Serve as the technical specialist for the organization in the application of advanced concepts, principles, and methods for railroad structural projects and tasks
  • Keep informed of new developments and requirements affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending changes in programs or applications
  • Interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignment
  • Other duties as assigned or required to meet the business needs
