About The Position

The Engineer, US Expansion Planning role supports preparation for production in a high-volume memory manufacturing facility. The position calculates and presents capital impacts of processes introduced at the site to senior leaders in manufacturing and R&D, and connects teams across supply chain, finance, engineering, procurement, production, and R&D to execute manufacturing and cost-saving processes. The engineer develops tools to expedite, optimize, and refine planning and reporting processes for site preparation, ramp-up, and operations. The role analyzes manufacturing changes, recommends improvements, optimizes equipment capacity, and conducts site- and tool-level efficiency studies. It also collaborates with partners on future tool and process roadmaps and evaluates network-capacity impacts of process changes. The position performs financial analyses before capital equipment purchases, including metrics optimization, process flexibility, capacity sharing, equipment repurposing, cash flow, payback, and ROI. It manages site tool-utilization and capacity-planning models, develops and communicates capital change proposals using reporting tools such as Tableau, and creates tools to audit manufacturing capital efficiency and identify cost-reduction opportunities. The engineer applies methods and tools including Python, SQL, R, Excel, and VBA to improve and automate planning tasks. Micron describes its benefits as supporting employee wellbeing, peace of mind, and future planning. Benefits include a choice of medical, dental, and vision plans; income protection if unable to work due to illness or injury; paid family leave; paid time off; and paid holidays.
