The Engineer Technical Services role will make an impact by providing product stewardship through developing subject matter expertise for products and processes. This expertise will be utilized to advance process/product quality, safety, supply, cost of goods, and general continuous improvements. The role involves conducting complex investigations and providing technical evaluations for unplanned manufacturing events, with support from Technical Services staff. It also includes providing Technical Services troubleshooting and completing process improvement projects resulting from those findings. The engineer will lead cross-functional teams, develop detailed timelines for projects, follow up on open actions, publish reports, and escalate when obstacles/challenges arise. They will interface frequently with other departments to lead completion of assigned projects and occasionally represent Tech Services as a team member on sitewide projects. Designing functional requirements, risk assessments, and protocol generation and execution for processes, products, and equipment is also a key part of the role, all within a cGMP environment. The position requires preparing presentations for project updates, including the use of laboratory notebooks, meeting summaries, project status updates, protocols, and reports. Interaction with vendors and outside contractors/consultants is expected as needed. The role will also support project/trial financial estimates, annual budget, and forecast duties. Off-shift/weekend support to Operations may be necessary, as well as providing technical support to regulatory and management staff for MPD pharmaceutical components.

Requirements

  • Engineering Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and 5 years of pharmaceutical experience is required.
  • A combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.
  • Must possess strong technical knowledge and the ability to think critically.
  • Must have troubleshooting skills and have solid communication and writing skills.
  • Must possess computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference given to knowledge of statistical software programs (MiniTab).
