Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Senior Principal or Principal Engineer Systems Modeling and Simulation, to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be full time in the office and located in San Diego, CA (preferred) or Palmdale, CA. Successful candidates will be ready to analyze current inventory effectiveness using statistical analysis, account for various changing configurations, and apply probability-based analytics to optimize recommendations and maximize positive impacts to key performance indicators. Previous experience in aviation and defense programs, familiarity with Monte Carlo simulations, and aptitude for project management and communication are critical skills for this position. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 5 years of statistical analysis, data analysis, or system modeling experience in a professional environment; OR Master’s degree in a (STEM) discipline and 3 years of statistical analysis, data analysis, or system modeling experience in a professional environment; OR PhD in a (STEM) discipline and 1 year of statistical analysis, data analysis, or system modeling experience in a professional environment.
  • Experience in statistical modeling.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Excel (extensive formula calculations, pivot tables/charts, macros, etc.)
  • Must have an active US Government Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation), With ability to Obtain Top Secret Clearance.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

  • Developing new and/or integrate existing system simulation frameworks, performance models and algorithms, threat models, and command and control models.
  • Simulate real-time operation and develop software/models that represent projected behavior of systems.
  • Develop, integrate, and use advanced graphical user interfaces and visualization tools.
  • Model operational environments, perform trade studies via computer simulation and recommend alternative architectures.
  • Perform operational analysis and mission effectiveness analysis.
  • Develop and integrate mission concept development, Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), spares sensitivity, Operations and Support (O&S) cost analyses / ROI, and model-based system engineering.
  • Develop and adapt existing models, methods, and simulations to support the design, development, and sustainment of system design concepts and technologies.
