Analyzes, researches and develops structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design, or operation of product to include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment and maintenance designs. Analyzes damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling. Specific structural engineering specialties may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue and thermal analysis. Tools utilized may include CATIA, IDEAS, ProEngineer and a variety of software applications. This position will be the Design Engineering lead for a wide array of structural, mechanical, fluids and ventilation and electrical systems with a focus in structural/mechanical systems and Lifting and Handling. This organization includes a team of 60 engineers, designers and material planners that support new construction and refueling/defueling for all nuclear fuel programs at NNS. This organization covers designs for all equipment inside the reactor compartment and all handling assemblies for items in and around the reactor for A1B, A4W and VCS. Chosen candidate is expected to be self-motivated and require no oversight to identify areas of weakness and drive improvement: Lead emergent deck plate issues Existing knowledge of all program reactor compartments and core designs to support this need is not required, but the desire/drive to reach this point is Active engagement with Project Engineer 5s on topics of risk, material, and knowledge management Support System design and early planning for new programs (A1B Refueling)
